MYNMANNE RULES

Hooking, rigging, and equipment standards for the Mynmanne Big Game Tournament

Welcome to the official rules for the Mynmanne Competition.
These regulations ensure fairness, safety, and ethical angling throughout the event.

All competitors must comply with IGFA angling rules in addition to the specific Mynmanne requirements listed below.
Where a rule differs, the Mynmanne rule takes priority for this competition

Hook & Rigging Requirements

Below are the approved hook-rigging methods used during the competition.
Each diagram illustrates the correct placement and spacing of hooks when rigging dead bait or artificial lures.

Important:

A. Double Hook Stiff Rig

Use For: Kona heads, skirts, large artificial lures
Rules Summary:

  • Maximum of two single hooks

  • Hooks must be in line with each other

  • Hook eyes must be spaced not less than one hook length and not more than 18 inches (45.72 cm)

  • No hook may sit more than one hook length forward of the lure head

B. Two-Hook Bait Rig (In-Line)

Use For: Dead bait such as mackerel, bonito, sardine
Rules Summary:

  • Both hooks must be embedded in the bait

  • Hooks must be in line with bait’s natural curve

  • No offset angles > 90 degrees

  • Spacing must follow IGFA standards

C. Single Hook Bait Rig

Use For: Ballyhoo, halfbeaks, small dead bait
Rules Summary:

  • Hook must not precede bait by more than one hook length

  • No treble hooks

  • No stingers outside bait

D. Two-Hook 60° Rig (Alternative Stiff Rig)

Use For: Larger lures where angled hook presentation is preferred
Rules Summary:

  • Only allowed if both hooks still follow IGFA spacing

  • Rear hook must remain inline with lure skirt

  • Not allowed if angle exceeds 90°

E. Teaser / Non-Hooking Lure Restrictions

  • Teasers may not contain hooks

  • No flying gaffs

  • No harpoons

GENERAL COMPETITION RULES

Eligibility

All anglers must be registered

All boats must comply with safety inspections

Skippers are responsible for enforcing rules on board

Competition Hours

Lines down at first light

Lines up: 16:00

Species Eligibility

Only IGFA-recognized species qualify

Billfish MUST be returned 

Scoring

Points awarded according to length, species, and release method

Disqualification for illegal rigging or restricted hooks

Safety Rules

All crew must wear lifejackets during launch

Radio check is mandatory before departure

Boats must carry VHF or 29MHz radio
